About SGI

SGI tracks the China-Gulf relationship: bilateral trade, energy supply, diplomacy, sovereign capital flows, and strategic cooperation between China and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries.

China is the Gulf's largest trading partner, and the GCC is China's single largest source of energy, supplying roughly a third of its crude oil imports. Over the past decade, the relationship has expanded across comprehensive strategic partnerships, multi-decade LNG and crude oil contracts, currency swap lines, sovereign-wealth co-investment, regular state visits, and growing people-to-people exchange.
